As you know, December and January can bring some colder tepmeratures that often time result in frost or freezing. In order to protect your plants and trees always cover them with a cotton or poly fabric to keep frost off the leaves. Never use plastic or tarps as the enhance the damage that is caused by the natural effects of the freeze. If you forgot to get things covered, or they just died in the freeze, don’t be worried. Many of the desert varieties re-generate from the root up. Don’t be tempted to prune frozen, frost bitten, or dead tips off too early as you may mmake the plant more secceptible to future freeze or frost damage. If your plants froze, wait until the temps start to stabilize in Mid February to schedule your hard cut-backs and plant rejuvenation pruning.
